Finding The Campground For Your Family

A family vacation can be the highlight of your year. It’s one of the few times that a whole family can get together and travel to a place where everyone an have fun. During a family vacation, you put aside your worries about work or school and life in general — and just have fun. You take the time you need to be with your family and make memories that will last a lifetime. More and more often — and in part because they want unique memories — families are choosing not to vacation in big resorts or urban cities. This is for a number of reasons. For one thing, resorts and cities are rather expensive. But you’re usually ready to spend some money on a vacation, right? The concern people have with cities and resorts is that they don’t offer truly unique, authentic experiences. In the big city, you can end up spending a lot of time on your cell phone. In a resort, you have everything catered to — while this can be a good thing, it also creates a more generic experience that many people tend to dislike. This is why many people are looking for family camping vacation spots. Like, there are many family campgrounds available. Below, we’ll look into the summer camping trips, and how you can make the most of them.

    Who’s Going Camping?

Before you start looking for family camping vacation spots, you probably want to know a little bit more about how camping works — that is, if you’re an inexperienced camper. Many avoid camping simply because they think that their kids aren’t ready for camping, or for that matter they themselves aren’t. On the surface, camping can look a bit more complicated than going on a city or resort vacation. But the fact is that many people love going camping, and find it to be a fairly simple process. According to a 2014 American Camper report, about 40.1 million Americans — that is, 14% of the population — over age six camped in 2013. Yes, children as young as six can go camping without a problem. When it comes to current campers, about 85% took their first camping trip between the ages of five and 15. It actually looks as if people first introduced to camping over the age of 15 were unlikely to go camping again — meaning that it’s better to introduce your child to camping when they were young. Indeed, 57% of people who are camping now participated in regular outdoor activities as children. Just a quarter of non-campers were exposed to the outdoors as children.

What Can You Do On A Camping Vacation?

There are a variety of ways that people can have fun on camping trips. Part of the key is through finding the best family camping vacation spots. The best family camping vacation spots will have everything from safe swimming holes to fire pits. While camping, you can swim, fish, hike, and much more. You’ll be able to introduce your children to the great outdoors in a safe environment. Many people who go camping find that they don’t want to go home after! Whether they were staying in a tent, RV, cabin, yurt, or bivy, most campers surveyed stayed for an average of 14.9 days. Camping is about more than a vacation — it’s about an experience. But as with any experience, there are of course certain practicalities to consider.

How Do I Stay Safe And Comfortable While Camping?

Not all families are ready to go camping in the most traditional, bare-bones sense. Some want creature comforts, and this is completely understandable. Remember that many campgrounds come equipped with bathrooms and showers, as well as ready-made fire pits for roasting marshmallows. There are also campgrounds that come with security guards, and some that have perimeters roped off to avoid encounters with wild animals. Camping is a very safe, very fun activity; you just need to find the right campground.
