Did you know that, just two years ago in 2011, 15.3 million tourists from all over the world planned a holiday in London? London boasts some of the world’s most beautiful and history-packed architecture, as well as a handful of modern, and equally popular, tourist attractions. What are some of the must-see sights of London?
Explore London’s Rich History
London hotels are located conveniently nearby world-famous architecture. Westminster Abbey, for example, dates way back to 1245. That same year, Henry III designated the abbey as his official burial site, and began reconstruction of the modern frame. Monarchs continue to be buried in Westminster Abbey today. The abbey also hosts coronations, guided tours, and royal weddings. The most recent and one of the history’s most iconic royal weddings, the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, took place just two years ago on April 29, 2011.
Another history- and baggage-packed sight is the Tower of London. Hotels in central London are just minutes away from one of the most sinister sights in English history. The Tower of London is best known for its use as a prison, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries. The renowned conspirator of the Gunpowder Plot, Guy Fawkes, was imprisoned and tortured in the Tower. Vacationers can take a break from the trilling, but grim implications of the Tower of London, by setting eyes on the Crown Jewels, a series of 23,578 dazzling gems, also located on-site.
Keep It Modern
Do not book hotels in London, including Belgrave hotels, with just history in mind. London also features a number of equally fascinating, and relatively, modern attractions. The London Eye, for example, opened in 1999, and remains the largest Ferris wheel in all of Europe. The attraction packs up to 25 people into separate glass capsules and ultimately reaches heights of up to 443 feet, giving tourists a breath-taking, sky-high view of the city. Add a little something extra to the popular tourist attraction by signing up for one of its night-time champagne flights.
Enjoy cheap hotel rates, and all of the luxuries of hotels near Victoria Station. Cheap hotel rates are, however, just the beginning of what London has to offer. Head out to Westminster Abbey and see the site of the Royal Wedding in person, visit the notorious torture chambers of the Tower of London, or enjoy a glass of champagne while taking a spin on the London Eye.

I didn’t know champagne flights were an option! If I could do it again… I easily would, and at night this time. How amazing would it be to nonchalantly sip some champagne and look at all of the lights across the city?
